Invitation to Contribute Book Chapter

Invitation to Contribute Book Chapter

We have been requested by the Bentham Science Book Series to edit a contributed book on “Recent Advances in the Application of Marine Natural Products as Antimicrobial Agents”. Prof. A. Veera Ravi, Dr. R. Srinivasan and Dr. AR. Kannappan are going to serve as Editors for this book. On behalf of Editors, I cordially invite you to contribute a chapter for this purpose-driven book. The contract has already been signed.

The book will be published by the Bentham Science Publisher, after peer-reviewing of all the contributed papers and the mandatory editing by the publication staff.

We believe it should be a timely book on discussing and presenting the in-depth knowledge on natural products identified from various marine environments as novel antimicrobial agents.

We have started inviting an international panel of authors and many of the world-renowned scientists have joined hands to complete this task.

As an accomplished and recognized scientist in this area of research, we wish to invite you to kindly contribute a chapter for the volume on “Recent Advances in the Application of Marine Natural Products as Antimicrobial Agents”.

As you are one of the experts in the field, we shall appreciate receiving articles from you and would be thankful for your acceptance of this invitation. It will be a privilege for us to have you in our team of authors.

We are sure that the proposed book will improve our understanding and add new dimensions in the field of identification of novel antimicrobial agents from marine environments.

Positively, I do hope that you will join us in contributing a chapter for the planned book.

The manuscript submission deadline is May 31, 2021. Please note that authors DOES NOT NEED TO PAY any fee for this publication. The scope of the book, manuscript preparation guidelines and other details are available online and can be downloaded. For more Click Here.

Please do share this info/link with your capable staff, colleagues and or friends who can contribute a chapter.

Looking forward for your kind collaboration

In your response, please include a provisional title of your article, a rough outline (or abstract) along with a list of the co-authors, to either of us at: aveeraravi@rediffmail.com or vasanbiotech@gmail.com or kannanacmdu@gmail.com

Thanking you,

With best regards,

Editors.

Book Details
Frontiers in Antimicrobial Agents (Volume 2)

Title of the book
Recent advances in the application of marine natural products as antimicrobial agents
Infectious diseases caused by microorganism such as bacteria, fungi, and viruses are one among the human ailments, which is responsible for more number of morbidity and mortality worldwide. The discovery and subsequent use of antibiotics simultaneously gave rise to the emergence of multi-drug resistant microorganisms, which undermines the treatment option against infectious disease and other significant advances over infectious diseases in health and medicine. The inappropriate and overuse of antibiotics has worsen the situation by the rise of pan-, and extreme-drug resistant microorganism. The reports around the world have shown that there is a decline in the overall progress in the discovery of new class of antibiotics and constant rising of resistant strains to all first-line and last-resort antibiotics. Hence, there is a dire need to identify a new class of antimicrobial agents that have potential against infectious diseases caused by multi-drug resistant microorganism. Natural products from terrestrial source have long been used as traditional medicine for treating various human diseases. Research on the identification of active leads from traditional medicine and other plants from terrestrial source is on rise in the recent past with the technological developments in terms of analytical, spectroscopy and high throughput screening approaches. These developments have significantly aid the drug discovery studies and extend its limit from terrestrial to marine environment. The marine environment is considered as an unique resource that comprises of massive biological diverse niche. Drug discovery studies have recognized marine environment as a potential source of important natural compounds that comprises of broad range of new and versatile chemical structures with bioactive potential and therapeutic value. The proper exploration of marine resources might potentially lead to a novel bioactive compounds that can lead to a breakthrough therapies against various human ailments. Till date, several compounds from marine environment are at different developmental stage and evidenced marine natural products as a source of novel drug candidate. Moreover, a growing number of compounds from marine sources are entering clinical trials and thus, the impact of this field on the medical industry is also increasing. Due to the importance of marine derived compounds as a source of new antimicrobial drug candidates, the purpose of this book will emphasize the marine natural products. With all these in mind, this book will be culminated in a way to address the readers about the currently available and emerging technologies that aid the drug discovery process, and discuss about the identification and potential use of antimicrobial natural products from different sources of marine environment, and then finally covers the patents granted for marine natural products as different chapters. Overall, the book enlightens the in-depth knowledge of marine natural products as potential antimicrobial agents, and the versatility of marine environment in terms of novel drug candidates.
